THQ Nordic will be releasing a remastered version of the 2012 game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The remastered version will be titled “Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning” and will feature remastered visuals and refined gameplay.
The game is set to be released on August 18, 2020, according to a listing of the game found on Microsoft store. The remastered version is said to come with all DLCs including Teeth of Naros and Legend of Dead Kel.
The game was first released back in 2012 by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios, who also published the game with Electronic Arts. It was made available for Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation 3. The garnered favorable reviews and was one of the most favorite role-playing action adventure game of that time.
Before the acquisition of THQ Nordic back on September 6, 2018, the game was set to have a sequel but financial problems caused the sequel to be scraped. After the acquisition, THQ Nordic stated that they have plans to release a remastered version of the game with the port developed by Kaiko, who had previously done remasters of the Darksiders series. The company will also be taking advantage of the assets of Project Copernicus, from 38 Studios.
We are not certain yet as what to expect from the remastered edition. We do know, however, that there will be a remastered edition that was announced by THQ Nordic later on after the acquisition. It is also quite unclear yet if the game will be ported on different gaming platforms such as PC, Switch, and PlayStation.
The game randomly appearing on the Microsoft Store suggests that it is likely to be Xbox and/or Windows exclusive. The product page on the store indicates that the minimum system requirement for the game requires an Xbox One gaming console. This could also mean that the game will be playable for the upcoming next generation of Xbox gaming console, the Xbox Series X.
As of this writing, it is too early to expect or predict anything right now. There has not been any sort of pricing posted yet. We do assume that the game is set to be released along with the launch of the latest gaming console on the market.
It is a waiting game as of this point and we will be sure to keep you guys updated on any new changes or update about the game.
