Cyberpunk 2077 Details of the Delay And PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series X Support

CD Projekt Red is delaying Cyberpunk 2077 for the second time around but CEO Adam Kicinski assures that there won’t be any more delay after this one. From the originally scheduled launch date of April 16, the launch of the game was moved to a later date to September 17. Now, the studio has announced once again that the game will be delayed to November 19.

Despite the announcement of the delay, the studio has assured that the content and complexity of the game as a whole are complete. The studio’s decision to further delay the game gave hopeful players an impression that the studio is under pressure because of how critics praised the game “The Last of Us Part II.” But in a 45-minute call between the developers and their investors, it looks like that that does not seem to be the case. The studio wanted to delay the game to iron out bugs and release a much solid build to the public for Cyberpunk 2077.

In the said call, CD Projekt Red has mentioned that a selected journalist is already playing the game as of this writing without any form of restriction. They have also mentioned that members of the media who are given the opportunity to play the game are given full access to the complete content of the game. This, in return, will let the selected media and journalists provide much in-depth content for the public to discern this coming June 25. Because of this, CD Projekt Red is expecting game bugs and hitches that will be reported by the journalists. With this in mind, CD Projekt Red came to the conclusion that they want to further iron out the game from bugs to provide the best possible gaming experience to hopeful players.

CD Projekt Red CEO, Adam Kicinski, also mentioned during the call that the game will not be delayed any further. In his statement, “We truly believe this will be the final date. Any decision like this costs us trust. We try to be as reasonable as possible to make a final decision,” he also mentioned that the studio is not worried about the competition in the market or any possible losses due to the delay. The management pointed out that the year’s biggest games are often released before then and this will give Cyberpunk 2077 a much bigger room to breathe.

Adam Kicinski may have mentioned that delays incurring for the game costs the company trust for their fans and consumers. However, for Witcher fans and gamers who played the Witcher video game series have abruptly gained a massive respect towards the studio for taking time to polish a game instead of rushing it to the public to make money, *cough EA*.

With the delay of the game comes the delay of planned contend addition including expansions, multiplayer mode, and the possible porting of Cyberpunk 2077 to the next-gen console such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It was also stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will be free for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X but only for those who already bought the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively. Once the game gets ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X, a more robust update will come to the game for these consoles. The update will take advantage of the overall performance of the next-gen consoles. This will provide a better overall gaming and graphics performance for Cyberpunk 2077. However, the process of how to get Cyberpunk 2077 for free for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is not given out. But at the very least, this ensures that the game will be ported for these consoles. For now, the call did not mention any form of information about the game coming to the next-gen consoles including release date, price, and how good the game will be with PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on November 19 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, there are no specific dates yet for when the game will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We are also not certain yet if the game will come to the Nintendo Switch. For PC players, you can pre-order a copy on GOG.com, Steam, and Epic Game Store. We recommend purchasing the game directly from GOG. This will allow all proceeds to go directly to the studio.

For now, let’s wait until June 25 for them to release more information about Cyberpunk 2077.
